I’m Debbie Quick, a wildlife and nature photographer based in the Hudson Valley of New York. Most days you’ll find me outdoors with a camera in hand, exploring forests, wetlands, and open fields in search of the wild moments that make nature so magical. From bald eagles soaring over frozen rivers to fox kits playing in spring grass, these are the moments I love to capture and share. My journey into wildlife photography began years ago when I first discovered a bald eagle nest near my home. Watching that family grow and thrive sparked a passion that has taken me across the Hudson Valley, the Adirondacks, and many other incredible places in search of wildlife and natural beauty. Every Wednesday, I share a new story here on the blog — a behind-the-scenes look at my photography adventures, memorable wildlife encounters, beautiful places I’ve explored, and the animals that have captured my heart.

My vacation week has been really nice up to this point, but it feels like it is going too fast. I thought I would take it easy and hang out at the campground with the boys today. We slept in and I cleaned up the campsite a little to prepare for closing next month.

Late summer days are amazing! The mornings start off cool, then the afternoons get warm, with a nice cool evening. The boyz and I were in no rush to get up and get moving today, so we slept in and enjoyed our warm and cozy bed. I think it was almost 8:30 when we finally rolled out. I must say, I'm seriously lucky to have such lazy dogs.

Today started as a lazy Sunday. The boys and I didn't roll out of bed until 8 am and then we just sat around and relaxed. The morning was beautiful with a light breeze and low humidity, so I was in no rush to leave the campground. We sat outside for a bit and went for a nice walk around the campground.

After work yesterday, I went out for a paddle on La Chute River and Lake Champlain. It was a fantastic journey as I ran into so much wildlife. In fact, it was so much fun that I decided to go back out today.

After work today, I decided to go check in on my favorite Osprey family. I arrived to find both kids in the nest yelling for food and no parents around. I set up my camera and watched and listened to them for roughly 20 minutes when dad flew in with a fish.

I woke up for work this morning and realized the weekend wasn't long enough, so I decided to use one of my personal choice holiday's and head out to see my favorite Osprey family!
