Today has been another fantastic day in the North Country. It's been really HOT, yet really good.
I started the day by going to visit my favorite Osprey Family in Crown Point. As always, they delivered fantastic photo opportunities. I was only there for roughly 45 minutes when dad came flying in with a huge large mouth bass. The fish must of been a good 4 1/2 - 5 pounds. As always, mom yelled at him as he came in and once he landed she was grabbing the fish and trying to pull it out of his talons. He let go of it a little quicker than he usually does and took off to go hang out on his favorite utility post nearby.
I stayed and watched mom eat and feed the kids for a little bit, but the heat and sun were very strong and making me not feel so well, so I decided to move around. I went for a short walk on the grounds, which turned out to be a big mistake because the hike back up the hill in that heat made me feel a bit sick. Oh well, I got in my car and headed over towards the nearby campground and parked just outside it so that I didn't have to pay the day fee. As I started walking along Lake Champlain, I found a male osprey in a tree eating a fish. Due to the light and all the leaves, it was tough to find a good spot to get pics from, so mostly I watched. I also met a nice couple who was camping there and they too enjoyed watching the osprey after I pointed it out to them.
Eventually, the heat got to me so I headed back to the campground to take care of the dogs and prepare to go to the beach. The boyz enjoyed their short time with me and laying out on the deck in their pen for a bit while I got things ready to head out.
I wound up going to the Mossy Point Beach in Ticonderoga to relax, eat lunch, and swim a few laps. The second time I went in the water to swim laps I was minding my own business and doing my laps when out of nowhere an adult bald eagle came swooping down and grabbed a fish out of the water, right in front of me. He got chased by two small birds and dropped his fish. Poor thing. It was not only exciting to see this while swimming, but I also enjoyed the excitement out of the crowd at the beach while they witnessed the eagle fishing right in front of us all.
All in all, it was a fantastic day and here is a shot of the male osprey bringing in the large mouth bass for his family to feast off of.
