Living Life Through the Lens: My Creative Journey in Nature & Photography

Hi friends! I’m Debbie Quick — the photographer, artist, and storyteller behind Debs Creative Images. For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt most alive outdoors, surrounded by wildlife, fresh air, and the beauty of the natural world. My camera has always been my companion — a way to connect, to observe, and to capture the fleeting moments that make life extraordinary.

📸   Photography, for me, is not just a passion — it’s a lifestyle. Whether it’s a bald eagle soaring above the Hudson River, a cardinal perched in a snow-dusted pine, or the golden light hitting an old barn, every image tells a story of patience, wonder, and love for the outdoors.

A Love for Wildlife and Adventure

Over the years, my photography has taken me on countless adventures across the country. I’ve traveled to Maine to photograph the adorable Atlantic Puffins, taking a small boat out to a remote island and spending time in a blind just to capture their perfect moment. I’ve wandered through Florida’s nature centers and wetlands, home to egrets, wood storks, and alligators, and to parks and ballfields for the unforgettable Burrowing Owls. I’ve even explored the open landscapes of Texas, where the variety of wildlife never ceases to amaze me.

Each destination has deepened my appreciation for the diversity and beauty of our natural world — and every journey strengthens my mission to share these experiences through my lens.

With its bold red and white stripes, this historic lighthouse overlooks the deep blue waters of the Bay of Fundy, guiding mariners for generations. These sturdy gray blinds provide birdwatchers and researchers with a quiet vantage point to observe the puffins that nest nearby. Perched on the rocks and rooftops, the puffins rest under the clear summer sky, showcasing the peaceful beauty and conservation efforts that protect this remarkable seabird colony.

The Inspiration Behind My Children’s Book

The first time I saw a bald eagle, it changed everything. I was instantly captivated by their power and grace — and from that moment, I knew I was hooked. My fascination turned into a full-blown passion to observe and document their nesting season, watching the parents build their home, raise their young, and finally see the fledglings take flight.

That incredible experience inspired me to create my children’s book, The Journey of a Bald Eagle Family in the Hudson Valley. It’s a story told with love — a way to share the beauty, resilience, and wonder of wildlife with children and families everywhere. Through it, I hope to inspire young readers to fall in love with nature, just as I did.

📚  Here’s a little sneak peek from the book to spark your curiosity!

My Fur Family and Life in the Adirondacks

Beyond photography, my world revolves around my fur babies. I’ve had pets all my life, and today my little family includes Mickey, my dog, and my two cats, Minnie and Cooper.

Minnie came first, followed by Cooper — both named after my favorite car, the Mini Cooper. I’ve actually owned three of them over the years! Mickey joined our family later, his name completing the theme — he’s my “Mickey Mouse,” and I call his little white paws his "Mickey Mouse Gloves".

Together, we spend our summers in the Adirondacks, where I’ve been a seasonal camper for over 14 years. It’s my peaceful escape — a place where the four of us can unwind, explore, and enjoy the great outdoors together. Well, the dog and I enjoy exploring the outdoors. The cats get to enjoy it from their favorite perches in front of the big windows.

The cats may think Mickey is a bit gross at times, but deep down, I know they love him too. My fur babies keep me laughing, grounded, and grateful every single day.

Dreams, Destinations, and Living Life to Its Fullest

My journey is far from over — there’s still so much of the world I long to see. On my bucket list are dream destinations like Alaska, where I hope to photograph grizzly and polar bears; South Africa, for a once-in-a-lifetime safari adventure with the big cats; Iceland, for the Northern Lights and puffins; and India, to witness the majestic Bengal tigers in their natural habitat.

Each of these places calls to me — not only for their wildlife, but also for their landscapes. From icy peaks to golden plains, nature has a way of reminding us how vast and breathtaking our planet truly is.

For me, life is about living it to its fullest — exploring, learning, creating, and sharing beauty wherever I can. 1 a newestChatGPT Image Nov 9, 2025 at 01_20_11 PM1 a newestChatGPT Image Nov 9, 2025 at 01_20_11 PM
