I'm half way through my vacation week and so far everything has been pretty awesome. On Monday I kayaked into Lake Champlain hoping to find some bald eagle's. I feel like I struck the jackpot as I didn't only find adult bald eagle's, but I also found a nest with three babies. Two of the babies are branching and one is still hanging out in the nest. While I was there on Monday, I saw both parents and all three babies. One of the parents is banded and the other is not. Which is exactly like the two pairs I watch back at home.
I didn't have a chance to get back out there yesterday, but I did today. During my trip over to the nest and while hanging out at the nest I saw lots of other wildlife. I spent 2 1/2 hrs on the water today, then saw some dark clouds rolling in. Hesitantly, I decided to head back to land. I didn't get very far and the rain started to come down. I had two miles to paddle to get back and was nervous that it wasn't only rain, but also thunder and some lightening. I did manage to get back safely, looking like a drowned rat. When I got back to camp and looked through my pics, I found a half way decent one of all three babies together. I wish the pic was a little better, but heck, there were a lot of circumstances to consider and the fact that I got this one was pretty good. I'm hoping to get back out there tomorrow. I know we're expected to have some rain, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rain doesn't last long.
