July 9, 2013 - Day 9

Welcome to day 9 of my photo/blog project. Although I had to work a majority of the day, I still found time to get out and take pics. After work this evening, I went kayaking with my friend John from camp. We launched our kayak's near the lower part of the Falls of Carillon on La Chute River. La Chute River flows from Lake George to Lake Champlain and the Falls of Carillon is the last in a series of cascades that fill the short length of the river and holds historical significance. It is located at the base of a mountain at the place between the waters (Ticonderoga - the area of land between two great lakes {Lake George and Lake Champlain}). John and I paddled roughly 2 miles down La Chute River and came out onto Lake Champlain. It was a nice calm evening and the water was like glass. The first time I've seen the lake looking like so in all the times I've been near it. We rounded the corner out of La Chute and into Lake Champlain and got a great view of Fort Ticonderoga. It's amazing to me how many different angles I have now seen the fort from. My photo today is the fort from my kayak on Lake Champlain.
