July 5, 2013 - Day 5

I am now into my 5th day of this project and all I keep thinking is "wow, this is so much fun". I have many idea's running through my mind and it is getting difficult to keep up. My original idea for today's photo kind of escaped me as I took something else that was more fitting for the day. My vacation week is starting to wind down to the last few days, so I took things easy this morning by sleeping in, then relaxing with coffee before venturing out. I went on a nice bike ride down to the beach in Hauge with the intention of swimming. Once I got there, I learned the water was filthy and opted out of swimming. I got a little wet and just relaxed for a bit before the five mile journey back to camp. After returning to camp, I decided to check in on my folks and see what their plans were for today. They mentioned that they were going to take the boat out for the first time of the season. My first thought was, ooh... that sounds like fun, I'll join you guys. What an adventure that turned out to be. My father is still new at trying to back up the boat trailer and things didn't seem to work out the way he wanted. It took several attempts to get the boat backed up where it needed to be for launching. Then my mom's oxygen tank with purse attached to it fell right in. Sadly, losing her glasses and iPhone. By this point, we thought things couldn't get any worse and so my dad got in to start up the boat. Unfortunately, he had forgotten to put the plug in and the boat quickly began taking on water. He wound up having to get the truck and trailer, pull the boat out far enough to drain it, then put it back. Finally, everything gets settled and we're all in the boat heading out for a nice day of relaxing and fishing and the motor doesn't sound right and dark clouds start heading our way with thunder and lightening. It wound up being a really fast (maybe 10 min ride) in the water and we headed back. Being that I'm doing this project, I felt it was necessary to photograph the "dock of excitement".
