July 14, 2013 - Day 14

This sure has been a really awesome weekend! It began on Friday evening when my friend James came over for dinner with his three boys. Then on Saturday I went kayaking with my friend John on Eagle Lake, followed by visiting my sisters at Paradox Lake. I finished off the weekend today by going with my friends John, Catherine, and Jay to Jabe's Pond for some kayaking, then to Lake George for some fishing with my parents. Going to Jabe's Pond was a very interesting and cool experience. Catherine and Jay knew the way, so John and I followed in our cars up this very windy and bumpy dirt road that just kept going up and up and up. The road was really narrow and in some places there were huge rocks that made me nervous because my car is so low to the ground. Eventually my car lost all traction and I had to floor it up the mountain. At one point I started to get a little nervous because I wasn't sure my car would even make it. But, thankfully, it DID! We then had to carry (or pull on wheels) our kayak's up to the water. That part was really rough terrain, but manageable. Once we got to the water, I could see that the pond was a real treasure. It was about a mile and half long, on top of a mountain, and incredibly peaceful and beautiful. We kayaked around Jabe's Pond for a little over an hour. We chatted, laughed, and took in the incredible scenery. We even enjoyed the Loons who were playing in the water, fishing, and even hanging out with us. At first the one Loon was following Catherine and we thought that was pretty awesome. Than he let Jay and I get close to him. At one point he was even swimming parallel to Jay kayaking. I took pics of the Loon, the view, and my friends, but I decided not to use any of those as my pic of the day because they were far to similar to several other pics that I already used for this project. Instead, I decided to use a pic I took of the movement of the water as my kayak flowed through it. The way the water rippled looked incredibly pretty to me. So here it is, my pic for today. I hope you enjoy it!
