About the Photographer
Debbie Quick was born in New Jersey and has moved around a lot in life. However, a majority of her life has been spent in New York.
At 18 Debbie joined the United States Navy and was stationed onboard the USS LaSalle in Gaeta, Italy. She spent almost four years on the ship and was honorably discharged from the Navy as a Gunnersmate 3rd class petty officer.
After Debbie's experience in the Navy, she attended school at Dutchess Community College and earned an A.A.S. Degree in Office Technogologies. She began working at IBM as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way up to a Software Engineer. After her promotion to Software Engineer she went back to school at SUNY New Paltz and earned a B.S. degree in Business Management.
During the years of working and going to school, Debbie did not have much free time on her hands, but whenever she could find time she would go out with her camera and practice photography. After completing school at SUNY New Paltz and having a small amount of free time on her hands, she started studying photography through New York Institute of Photography. As Debbie learned more about photography, she also learned that her specialty was photographing animals (both domestic and wild). Her biggest passion has been photographing bald eagles. After observing, learning about and photographing bald eagles for almost a year, she decided to write and illustrate a children's book about them. Her passion for bald eagles is ongoing and will be a forever passion. In addition to learning about bald eagles and photographing them, she has recently begun to discover a passion for other birds of prey as well as small birds. Debbie's passion in learning about birds and photographing them in their natural environment will be a life long passion that she will continue to pursue.
